Mission Statement

CRTOA is committed to assisting its members to deliver professional services that maximise the tourism experience; it aims to deliver high quality services that promote growth and diversity as well as links to promotional networks and business support.

Membership Information

The Canberra Region Tourism Operators Association Inc. (CRTOA) is a volunteer based non-profit association established in 1983 to serve the needs of tourism operators in the Canberra region. Certificate A2992.

Our members are businesses and individuals who are part of the tourism industry and provide a wide range of products and services with a common tourism focus. Members include (but are not limited to): transport operators, tour operators, guiding services, adventure activity providers, shopping service providers and farmstay accommodation.

CRTOA provides a range of opportunities including business networking, industry information dissemination, promotional opportunities, business guidance and cost savings to members operating in the tourism industry in the Canberra region.

We are affiliated with or in close contact with other tourism related organisations including:

  • NCAA - National Capital Attractions Association
  • CTEC - Canberra Tourism and Events Corporation
  • TIC - Tourism Industry Council - fully accredited member
  • CCB - Canberra Convention Bureau
  • CAA - Canberra Accommodation Association
  • TNSW - Tourism New South Wales

CRTOA membership is open to most businesses, individuals, non-profit associations and government agencies who consider themselves as part of the Tourism Industry. General meetings are held on the LAST Monday night of each alternate month, although continual activity occurs throughout the year depending on the number of current issues.

Objectives & Activities

  1. Assist Canberra region based tourism operators to establish and grow their businesses.
  2. Assist members lower their operating costs.
  3. Encourage cross utilisation and referral of services between the members.
  4. Disseminate news and information about tourism related issues to members.
  5. Represent members interests to government agencies, media and other parties.
  6. Attempt to influence government agencies to remove or reduce trading barriers and bureaucratic anomalies adversely affecting tourism operators.
  7. Seek to raise the quality standards and profile of tourism operations in the region.
