Bungonia

Live on the doorstep of pristine National Park, in a district dating back to the earliest days of British settlement

Bungonia is a small village with a population of 367. The village has a rich colonial history and is placed at the gateway to the Bungonia National Park, famous for its beautiful views and adventure activities like bushwalking, rock climbing, abseiling and canyoning.

The Bungonia district was settled in the early 1820s, the village progressed and various small businesses were established to service the district. Butchers, shopkeepers and stonemasons are some of the occupations that operated in Bungonia. The school, post office, shop, hotels and the two churches were opened from a very early date. Many of these buildings still remain in their original condition now under private ownership.

The petite village has a small newsletter and regularly hosts a hot lunch or morning tea in the community hall. Industry in the region includes hard rock extraction and agriculture including meats, wines and wildflowers. Some of the best land available is within easy reach of the highway along a sealed road, with the median property price in Bungonia at approximately $340,000, median weekly rent is $220.
