Relaxed, modern dining on fresh and local produce is what to expect from 98 Chairs in Goulburn. This ethos comes from the owners, Deb (front of house) and Steve (chef), who live with their two daughters on their farm in the Gundary Valley – where a great deal of the restaurant’s produce is grown.
Deb’s background is dressage training and riding, coupled with hospitality on weekends and nights – whether that’s working or enjoying good food. Steve has been cooking since he was 15 years old, with his fare being served across the world from Belfast to Laos, local pubs to two star Michelin restaurants in London’s Soho. Meeting in 2003, they have worked together ever since, and found their home in Goulburn. Their combined active outdoor lifestyles and appreciation of good food and wine has made healthy and creative dining a simple path for them both to follow.

At 98 Chairs you’ll be greeted by the recycled pallet façade with tall glass windows that surround bay seating in the front; the split level allows the 120-seat space to feel open and airy amongst repurposed stone and wood used throughout the restaurant. The menu changes with the season but will always be fresh, nutritious and sourced close to the Canberra Region.
