Boorowa

Boorowa is a gem that has much to offer visitors and residents

Boorowa lies just 80 minutes north of Canberra on the Lachlan Valley Way / B81. Boorowa’s economy has been founded on agriculture and it is renowned for the fine merino wool produced there. Whilst agriculture remains its strength, the Boorowa economy is diverse, led by a strong band of entrepreneurs. In Boorowa itself you will find antique shops, food outlets, country pubs, a supermarket and unique shopping experiences. All of this is supported by an array of community services and a strong sense of community pride and inclusion. Newcomers are welcomed and Boorowa’s location makes it attractive for those who want a safe, relaxed lifestyle with a comparatively short commute to major centres.

As the Hilltops area grows, Boorowa still represents good value. There is currently an array of property available for purchase in Boorowa, from residential blocks in town, to houses on small, medium and large blocks ranging in size from 800sqm to 1ha. There is everything from newly built homes to properties in need of restoration. Blocks of land start at $60,000 and houses ranging from $150,000 to $500,000. As you head across the town boundary there are rural lifestyle properties ranging from 100ac – 200ac (40-80ha) with comfortable homes. There is also recreational land for weekends and getaways. Prices here range from $140,000 (100ac with no improvements) to $750,000 (comfortable homes on versatile home for stock and cropping).

Due to the quality of large scale rural land around Boorowa, properties in this range are in strong demand and farms in this area receive a lot of interest when they do come on the market. Overall housing and property activity in Boorowa is strong, and demand and supply are constant.

For young families, Boorowa has a number of education options: in addition to St Joseph’s Primary School, Boorowa Central School and Boorowa Pre-school, there are public schools located in the nearby villages of Murringo, Rye Park and Rugby.

Boorowa is also well serviced by the Boorowa Hospital, the Boorowa Medical Centre and a local Pharmacy.

Community Transport services operate to Canberra on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
